Fridays & Saturdays Community History Days at Sheriff Shively's Storehouse on "The Crooked Road" - VA 40 West of Rocky Mount. Hosted by Lane & Sue Rakes. Learn about the Endicott/Shooting Creek area - mini museum in the store. History and music theme items for sale and sale. Locally produced arts & crafts. More. Continuing through October. Special events will be announced.
   
Sunday, June 15 "Dr. John Pinkard: African-American Franklin County Legend." Presented at 3 p.m. American Legion Bldg, Tanyard Road, Rocky Mount. Guest speaker, long-time researcher Michael Blankenship. Dr. Pinkard was said to diagnose and cococt medicines for most aliments. Artifacts from his life on display. Free.
   
Saturdays, Oct. 18 & 25 "Ghosts & More" - characters and interpreters tell tales at sites where ghosts have been seen, heard, felt or smelled - and where murderous activity has taken place in Rocky Mount. Ride a vintage bus on this approximate 1 hour and 15 minute tour. Guide on each bus to tell you "the rest of the story." Advance ticket purchase suggested as all four buses each night usually sell out. Tours begin when the sun leaves the sky. Tickets on sale Sept. 18.
